A three-day hike immersed in Geological Heritage

On Friday July 7th, Saturday 8th, Sunday 9th, a three-day hiking tour immersed in geological heritage, "Gardetta 360°" - Gardetta Plateau, organized by Geotourism Association - which promotes the most beautiful trips related to geology - will offer participants the opportunity to discover unsual routes on the Gardetta Plateau, with thrilling landscapes on peaks little known by tourists.

The three-day hike - travelling on the most hidden trails 2000 mt above sea level – will be guided by geologist and naturalist Enrico Collo, and by the president of the association Matteo Garofano.

Participants can stay overnight at Gardetta Lodge or, for those who love adventure, there are sleeping possibilities with tent near the lodge.

In the evening, the full moon will gift us with the beauty of a perfectly illuminated night landscape as if it were daylight: a beautiful view just 5 minutes from the lodge, before going to sleep.

Friday, July 7th
Mount Bodoira

Destination of the day is Mount Bodoira, at the south-east end of the Gardetta Plateau;
A Spring classic for ski mountaineers, virtually forgotten in the Summer, will give hikers one breathtaking views of Rocca la Meja and the High Stura Valley. Geological tip of the day:
Do you want to see when the mountains bend like butter? From up there participants will admire spectacular examples of this phenomenon.

Departure: 9.30am from Lou Dahu Camping Bar at the junction between Marmora and Canosio, in the heart of Maira Valley, 50km from Cuneo. Visit of Gardetta Geological Museum and drive up to Mount Preit. After the hike to Mount Bodoira, hikers will go back to accommodation at Gardetta Lodge and enjoy a picturesque welcome concert with "AndaVenanda Trio", dinner will follow and overnight stay.

Saturday, July 8th
Comba Emanuel e il Vallo Alpino

Hike to Bernoir Pass exploring a beautiful example of Vallo Alpino fortification; Descent to Lake Oserot and, with other fortresses, arrive at Oserot Pass; Descent into wild Comba Emanuel and climb along a cool stream down to Gardetta Pass. Return to the lodge in the late afternoon. Packed lunch.
Day tips: Fortifications; faults, folds and numerous overlapping thrust tectonics.

Sunday, July 9th
Unexplored summits around Nero Lake

Downhill towards the Mount Preit; Crossing of Rocca Meja’s northern slope and arrival at Nero Lake, through easy ridge trails. Packed lunch. In the afternoon, return to the cars through the wild Vallone of Valletta.
Day Tips: Hikers will be able to observe Gardetta's dinosaur prints - the only ones in the Western Alps, as they are the oldest in Italy – and admire the opening of supercontinent Pangaea.
