The initiative is part of the “Alla scoperta delle imprese e Botteghe storiche di Liguria Genova, Savona e Imperia" project (To the discovery of Genova, Savona e Imperia’s oldest stores).

The free tour starts at 3.45pm in Duomo Square right in front of the cathedral in Imperia Porto Maurizio, where participants will follow a professional tourist guide taking them through the several stops strolling on city streets.

The tour will take visitors to bars, bakeries, restaurants, stores, businesses that are part of the history and fabric of the city business and trade, and still today are a landmark for locals and tourists.

In addition to old stores, there are plenty of astonishing sites to visit in Porto Maurizio, with its eighteenth century buildings, the historical Cavour Theatre and Parasio, a medieval borough, labyrinth of alleys, and seat of the Santa Chiara Convent where one can enjoy a breathtaking view of the entire gulf. Imperia Porto Maurizio also hosts the new Naval Museum as well as Vele d'Epoca - the Imperia Vintage Yacht Challenge - every two years.
