The Contemporary Art Museum in Imperia has something new to offer

Under new management, starting January 2017, MACI – the Contemporary Art Museum in Imperia - has something new to offer.

New initiatives and opportunities for all audiences, in fact, will be announced shortly, marking the beginning of a new season for M.A.C.I. Imperia, characterized by special events, exhibitions, concerts, DJ sets, performances, workshops, and more.

Between Porto Maurizio and Oneglia, the Museum is hosted in Villa Faravelli in a residential area overooking the Ligurian sea. The Villa, in sober and elegant architecture, develops around a large central staircase into eighteen rooms, including an impressive living-room, large about sixty-five sq. mt. with a beautiful coffered ceiling supported by two Finale Ligure’s pink stone columns. After renovation, the Villa reacquired its original prestige and was opened to the public in May 2005 at an exhibition dedicated to George Baselitz.

The exhibition rooms are arranged in two levels connected by a stairwell lit by
a stained glass window. The outside porch rests on five round arches overlooking the sea.
The large park is spread over a wide area of naturalistic relevance, with typical fragrances of Riviera’s gardens which include Phoenix Canariensis, Pinus Pinea, Araucaria Excelsa, cedars, cypresses, orange trees, laurel, etc.. ...

Villa Faravelli has been hosting for nearly two years the Invernizzi Contemporary Art collection donated to the city by Architect Lino Invernizzi and widow Maria Teresa Danè. The collection includes works of some of the leading contemporary artists such as Victor Vasarely, Mario Radice, Robert e Sonia, Delaunay, Enzo Morlotti, Josef Albers, Marino Marini, Frantisek Kupka, Lucio Fontana, Piero Dorazio, Vittorio Tavernari, Carlo Nangeroni, Piero Manzoni, Renato Birolli.
