Genoa becomes a true hub in the Mediterranean area as Volotea airline company will have a new base of operations in Genoa (the ninth in Europe) starting next spring and will guarantee five new international connections.

Starting next year new flights will connect Genoa to Athens, Santorini, Palma de Mallorca, Ibiza and Menorca. These five new entries are in addition to the traditional routes to Palermo, Olbia, Naples, Catania, Brindisi, Cagliari and Alghero, for a total of 12 destinations.

Given the volume of passengers carried and the number of available connections, it is clear that the role of Genoa is critical to the company's development strategies.

The opening of the Volotea base also means 50 new jobs in Genoa.

Genoa airport is a strategic asset not only for Genoa, but Northern Italy as well and it is an essential asset for tourism in Liguria.
