#GirodItalia 2015 will start in Sanremo (Italian Riviera)

The Giro d’Italia (Tour of Italy) will begin on May 9 with a 24km team time trial starting in the Riviera’s city of Sanremo in the Liguria region.

The starting location of the race is back to Italy after last year’s adventure in Ireland, where the Giro officially kicked off from Belfast.

Italian professional bicycle racer Vincenzo Nibali confirmed yesterday, while being interviewed during the Sanremo Music Festival, that the first team time trial will be 24km long and will finish in sea town of San Lorenzo al Mare.

The estimated cost for holding the start in Liguria is around €1 million, six times less what was allegedly spent for Ireland last year.

The town of Sanremo has already hosted 11 stage finishes in the history of the Giro.
