The Archeology Service of Nice was created in 2009 and since 2015, it is accredited by the Ministry of Culture to carry out archaeological excavations throughout the metropolitan area (Nice, Vence, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Utelle). It also carries out long-standing archaeological operations Colline du Château, Colline de Cimiez or in marine areas (jetée Saint-Lambert and Palais de la Jetée-Promenade).

The Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur is the only territorial reality in France with an archaeological service that operates in both the terrestrial and submarine areas. To celebrate its ten years of existence, the city of Nice and the Métropole Nice Côte d'Azur have planned a series of events taking place during 2019. In this context, the exhibition "Between mountains and coasts, 10 years of Archeology in Nice in the Metropolis " is included.

An activity that develops from sea level up to 3132 meters hight in 49 municipalities with over half a million inhabitants. The exhibition offers dozens of findings from the decade-long work of archaeological services covering various historical eras, from antiquity (metal age) to the Middle Ages, from modern to contemporary archeology.

The Archeology Museum of Nice / Cimiez is located at Avenue des Arènes de Cimiez number 160.
