Classical, jazz and theater at the Cervo Chamber Music Festival, a 55-year-old enchantment

Stefano Bollani opens the 55th Cervo Chamber Music Festival. A start with a bang! Que Bom is the new project born from the great love for Brazilian sounds made entirely in the heart of Rio, of new and original songs and that will be the highly anticipated album of the summer 2018.

Cervo has been offering for more than half a century Art of the highest quality : and then back to great music under the stars, in a natural setting of incomparable charm, a "magical" stage, coveted and trodden by the greatest musicians of our time. The musical summer of Cervo offers this year seventeen dates between July 14 and August 29, 2018: a rich program of events of different taste and nature, from concerts of traditional chamber repertoire to "cross over" shows dedicated to varied genres and to the theatrical performances, which will come to life on the "stages" of Cervo: the Sagrato dei Corallini and the Ciapà Natural Park. Then, also in this edition, a concert in the Church of San Giovanni Battista (July 17) which will have as its protagonist Giorgio Revelli, interpreter at the organ, the harpsichord and the virginal.

And speaking of magical stages, this year's big news, the concert 12th August with Luca Magariello (cello) and Cecilia Novarino (piano) - in collaboration with Amfiteatrof Festival - which will take place in Seborga, in the charming Piazza San Martino. With the appointment of 17th July begin the performances of the great interpreters of classical music and of the young emerging talents, already recognized at international level. Back in the "Giornate Géza Anda" (20-21-22-23 July), Pietro De Maria - resident artist in Cervo for the three year period 2018-2020 - which will be joined by the winner of the Geza Anda 2018 Piano Competition, for two piano recitals and a Masterclass; and an exceptional guest arrives: the equally famous cellist Mario Brunello, in duo with accordion Ivano Battiston, with a repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary times. Then the pianists Federico Colli and Jeung Beun Sohn, Winner 1st Absolute Prize ARD Music Competition Munchen 2017.

The agreement with the Fondazione Teatro Carlo Felice of Genoa is renewed, with the idea of establishing a stimulating synergy between the cultural realities of the region and to enhance the musical excellences of the territory: The concert of August 1st with the Quintetto di Fiati of the Genoese theater wants to be the symbol of this renewed collaboration and of this "network" between virtuous "cultural" institutions. A new project, launched for the three year period 2018-2020 with the Foundation, foresees the realization of a series of concerts whose thematic theme will be the execution of fantasies, paraphrases and transcriptions for chamber formations of some of the most famous pages of the opera repertoire.

In addition to Bollani, other eclectic jazz performers enrich the board, starting with Fabrizio Bosso, who returns to Cervo after two years with pianist Julian Oliver Mazzariello; and still exceptional performers linked to contamination and popular music, such as the Trio Servillo Girotto Mangalavite (voice, sax and piano) and Vincenzo Zitello, who will play two different harps of Gaelic tradition. Completing the "classic" sector are many groups and ensembles, some more traditional (the Philharmonic String Quintet Berlin, with the soloists of the Berliner Philarmoniker and Roberto Issoglio at the piano), the Trio Marie Claudine Papadopoulos (violin) Alexandre Vay (cello), Dimitri Papadopoulos (piano), the Kelemen Quartet, a Hungarian ensemble winner, in 2014, of the prestigious Borciani Competition.

Finally, after a few years of absence, the voice-piano duo returns, protagonist the soprano Daria Masiero accompanied by Gisella Dapueto, with a repertoire linked to the romantic liederist and to the opera. For the theater, to underline the new collaboration with the Festival of Borgio Verezzi, signed by the show of August 3rd The legend of Moby Dick, with direction, lyrics and music - live - by Igor Chierici.
