The theme of the eight edition of collisioni festival: strangers is a tribute to the artistic genius of David Bowie, with his song Strangers when we meet. It aims as well to be a thought-provoking title about the fear that overwhelms our lives, the fear for a foreign, a diverse, the one we do not know well enough. It doesn’t matter much whether it is two boys kissing or two veiled girls at the bus stop, art has always been teaching us that building up walls is treacherous. This is what a Festival should be about: putting in contact those people that – in spite of the differences – are willing to make that marvelous gesture of altruism that is listening.
Born eight years ago, Collisioni is nowadays the most important festival in Piedmont and it is considered by the critic as the best festival in Italy. Bob Dylan has honored Collisioni by choosing the festival in 2012 as the only Italian stage of his world tour celebrating the 50th anniversary of “Blowing in the wind”. It has been chosen as the only Italian date by Jamiroquai in 2013, for the 20th anniversary of their formation, and by Neil Young and Deep Purple in 2014. Last year, Collisioni hosted, among the others, concerts by Sting, Mark Knopfler, Passenger and Paolo Nutini.
Barolo is located in the amazing Langhe countryside, UNESCO heritage, which is the natural stage to host music, meetings, conversations with Literature Nobel Prizes winners, Italian and international music stars, worldwide known film directors.
