The Museum of Ceramics in Savona is one of the most important museums of ceramic art in the world with a collection of more than a thousand artworks: four floors of prestigious pieces of art mainly arranged following their original collections, from Renaissance to the 20th century, from Futurism to contemporary design.
And now, the museum celebrates six new pieces to discover and appreciate, a mix of Ligurian ancient majolica and contemporary ceramics.
In fact, four artworks come famous museologist Alessandra Mottola's collection, valuable ancient pottery, among which one labeled as belonging to the ancient art collections of HRH Emanuele Filiberto of Savoia, Duke of Aosta.
In contrast, the other two pieces new to the museum are Enrico Baj’s works donated by his wife, taking inspiration from the recent exhibition "Baj, imaginary figures". Enrico Baj was an Italian artist and writer on art - close to the surrealist and dada movements - who created prints, sculptures collage.
