Pietra Ligure is blooming in June

The fifth edition of "Pietra Ligure in fiore", Blooming Pietra Ligure - an international artistic flower festival which will take place from June 10 to 12, 2016 in Pietra Ligure - is one of the most important and largest in Europe, with about 40 talian and international delegations from several countries in central and Eastern Europe: Germany, Austria, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary, Poland.

The city will welcome flower artists who, from dawn of June 11th until the following day evening, will liven the streets and squares with their works of art. To confirm the importance of the event, cities with a long and prestigious tradition in the history of artistic floral decorations like Genzano, Noto, and Bolsena will participate.

The famous "Star of Ranzi", lovely floral display, comes from Pietra Ligure and is of ancient origins; it is re-created every year on the occasion of the "Corpus Domini" in the small square of Ranzi, near Pietra Ligure.

In 2014, Pietra Ligure participated in the fifth International Congress of Ephemeral Arts, held in Rome, during which flower masters created a 50-square-meters work of art in front of St. Peter cathedral and dedicated it to Pope Francis.

The 2013 edition of "Pietra Ligure in fiore," was a real success and earned national and international prestige with the participation of over 800 flower masters. The biggest work measured 230 square meters, the longest 135 meters, the smallest 20 square meters, for a total of about 1,100 square meters of floral carpets and about 315,000 flowers used.

Pietra Ligure is a  municipality in the Province of Savona, located about 60 kilometres (37 mi) southwest of Genoa and about 20 kilometres (12 mi) southwest of Savona.
