Itinerary: From Pantai Olive mill to Vallun da Briga

Time: 3 hours

Along this journey, one can discover an old mule track, ancient woods and beautiful olive groves, all intertwined by many creeks.

From Boscomare, a hamlet near Pietrabruna, go down along the ridge and then arrive at the old parish of San Siro.

Moving along, you will reach the Tana river, near the olive mill “Pantai” (30 minutes from Boscomare). Here you can cross the Tana river and go up to the village of Pietrabruna, walking along the mule track made of river cobblestones (rissoei). This slope is called, in local dialect, “Muntà de San Gregoiu”, slope of Saint Gregorio.

Walk past Pietrabruna's churchyard of Saint Gregorio’s Church (XII sec.). Past the first houses, turn left on an paved road that takes you to Boscomare through olive groves.

You can find centuries-old olive trees and rivers, with suggestive names. In the north part you'll find oak woods, hornbeam woods and chestnut copse.

Return to Boscomare walking through the area where people play the game “balun au pugnu”, characteristic of this area; it is a game played with a small ball hit with the players’ fist.

Note: Pantai, a dialect word, means marsh

To reach Boscomare: on the coastal Aurelia route, at San Lorenzo al Mare, turn right toward Pietrabruna.  Just off route SP45, past Torre Paponi, take route SP46 which will end in Boscomare.
