The Cuneo-Ventimiglia line is a romantic railway connecting the Alps to the sea

It goes from the Alps of the Sea down to the coast of Liguria, through the narrow gorges of the Val Roja. It’s a romantic and invaluable railway, connecting Italy and France.

The train goes through the 8.2 km long Col de Tende road tunnel, it stops near the beautiful medieval village of Saorge perched along a narrow rock, then at the world’s smallest train station of Airole, and goes through picturesque villlages in the Piedmont region, gates to the Alps, including the ski-resort of Limone Piemonte.

At the moment, the schedule includes two trains a day departing Cuneo, one at 7.50 and one at 14.41, and two returning from Ventimiglia, one at 10.37 and one at 18.37. The service is reduced due to work along the French section.

For only €8.20, this train brings you through medieval villages and Baroque towns, from enchanting mountains and gorges down to the sea.
