Mondovì is getting ready for its typical Carnival celebrations

Carlevè 'd Mondvì: the Carnival celebrations in Mondovì

Mondovì is getting ready for three weeks of events to take place during the Carlevè 'd Mondvì, the traditional Carnival celebrations.

The celebrations originated in 1950, but every edition holds new surprises.

On the 14th of February, there will be the parade of the Bele Monregaleise, the girls who were elected as the dame of the city in the previous editions.

The Béla Monregaleisa is a key figure in the celebrations, alongside with the Moro, the Moor. This year the Moro will be interpreted by Carlo Comino.

The Carnival celebrations will start officially on Sunday, 25th January, when the Moor’s courtship and minstrels will be presented in Mondovicino shopping centre.

On the 5th and 6th of February, there will be the charity event “Un sorriso per Giorgia” at Baretti theatre, where the folk group Trelilu will present their show “La Busiarda” (the lier), written in collaboration with Alessandro Perissinotto.

On the 10th and 11th of February, Baretti theatre will also host the event “Lo Zecchino... Moro”, when the choirs of the children of the primary schools of Mondovì will sing the beautiful songs of the Carlevè ‘d Mondvì.

The main event, though, will be the parade of the Carnival floats and the masked groups, which will take place in the Breo district on Sunday 8th and Sunday 15th of February.
