The IMOCA 60 Malizia II, led by Pierre Casiraghi and Boris Herrmann, welcomed the young Swedish Greta Thunberg on board for an Atlantic crossing in mid-August.

Pierre Casiraghi, founder of the Malizia team and co-skipper, during this crossing of the Atlantic said: "I think we need to make the general public aware of the increase in global emissions and pollution due to human activity. Convince governments and international institutions to mobilize and enforce laws to protect humanity and biodiversity is of the utmost importance for the future of our planet. Greta is an ambassador who conveys a fundamental message both for our society and for the survival of future generations. The Malizia team and I are proud to cross the Atlantic by her side and accompany her on this transport which is still one of the few today not to emit fossil emissions. I hope this will change in the near future. I respect Greta's courage to face this adventure, her total commitment, her sacrifice and her struggle for what is probably one of the greatest ideology challenges that humanity must face today. "

Skipper and professional navigator, Boris Herrmann adds:" Greta has the courage to face ignorance and injustice regarding the climate crisis. It does not surprise me that she considers this journey quite achievable for her, taking into account her courage in expressing herself aloud in front of the most powerful people on the planet. "
