Halloween in Triora: the eerie night in the Witches Village

On the night of October 31st, Triora - a village in the high Argentina Valley - becomes the Halloween Town, living the magic atmosphere of this eerie night.

Halloween is a pagan celebration that has ancient roots; it is a special time, when boundaries between worlds are thin. Craftsmen, artists and travelers will come together in the village of the witches to dance around the propitiatory Samhain bonfire, enjoy music and ballads to drive away the roaming hostile spirits and to light the night with enchantment and mystery.

The program on October 31st includes workshops on Major Arcana Tarot Cards, ancient Witchcraft, seminars on magic of Fire and Herbs, celtic music concerts, the Samhain bonfire and a closing night concert. On November 1st a special event will be dedicated to children: the Trihogwarts Special School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Workshops on Minor Arcana Tarot Cards, seminars on the last Harvest Festival's symbols and rituals and Ancestors celebration, Cornish Witchcraft and "Hecate, the Erbane and Triora" will follow.

On both days the Halloween Craft Fair will fill this picturesque village's alleys with themed crafts.

Along the celebrations, in the early afternoon, visitors can also participate in an easy three-hour Halloween walk starting from Triora, going toward the town of Loreto, strolling in the woods, along an old path. The walk gets to the old Mauta bridge, which is traditionally remembered as a meeting place for witches and the devil; exactly there, participants will raise their glasses to the "Witch aperitif", immersed in the woods and the magic sound of the bubbling stream. Walking back toward Triora, right near the village, participants will reach the Campumauve Fountain: legend has it that witches brewed concoctions and their filters there. Once arrived at the village, a local guide will lead participants to the discovery of Triora and its witchcraft legends.
