Sant'Agata Nativity Scene

Sant'Agata Nativity Scene

As promised, we did stroll in the Ligurian inland and this is what we found: beautiful and undiscovered Nativity Scenes, stunning expression of an ancient art and craft that has been passed down for generations and still magnificiently represents old-time everyday life.

Additionally, those interested in more crib work, tomorrow, Sunday December 27th, can take part in the Parasio's urban hike organised by UISP Imperia and MY Association, in collaboration with Circolo Parasio, Chamber of Commerce and with the support of the City of Imperia. In fact, the old borough of Parasio, in Imperia, hosts the Nativity Museum and Civic Art Gallery where a visit during the urban hike is planned. The crib consists of 113 eighteenth-century wooden statues by renowned Genoese sculptor Anton Maria Maragliano. The restored statues are almost all mannequins, coated with precious fabrics and dresses and decorated with sequins, embroidery and silver yarns.

Entrance and guided tour: € 2.

Meeting time: 2pm in front of the Basilica of San Maurizio.
