The challenge for the Most Beautiful Village in Italy begins!

The challenge for the election of the "Most Beautiful Village in Italy" begins! The Italian Rai3 broadcast television's program Kilimangiaro is launching the contest and Cervo is betting on winning it at the Easter 2016 finals.

Starting on February 21st 2016, Cervo will need all program viewers' votes and praises online and beyond. Cervo, proudly representing Liguria region, will compete with other 19 villages, for a total of twenty finalists, one per each region in Italy.

Cervo is in fact one of the most beautiful villages in Liguria, both because of its picturesque position and for its ancient history, art and architecture.

Walking around Cervo is an experience rarely found elsewhere: visitors climbing up the village on its narrow medieval streets can just get lost in time while admiring the beautiful facades and architecture. On top of the borough sits a 12th century Castle, one of the most significant medieval buildings in Liguria whereas, walking down the main street, the 17th century baroque church of Saint John the Baptist stands. It is known as the church of the “Corallini” (little corals) since it was built thanks to local fishermen, specialized in coral fishing. The church's staircase opens to a stunning square overlooking the Mediterranean Sea where The Chamber Music Festival is held every Summer.

Following web-votes, during the television program's final episode on Easter day, a ranking of the twenty villages will be disclosed, with the official proclamation of the winner village: the most Beautiful Village in Italy.
