"From Impressionists to Picasso", an exhibition not to be missed

Genoa, international city of art and tourism, has been chosen by the city of Detroit for the unique and prestigious exhibition “From Impressionists to Picasso”.

Genoa, international city of art and tourism, has been chosen by the city of Detroit for the unique and prestigious exhibition “From Impressionists to Picasso”.

Founded in 1885, one hundred and thirty years ago exactly, the Detroit Institute of Art is among the most visited art museums in the world. It has one of the largest and most significant art collections in the United States, regarded as among the top six in the country and comprising a multicultural and multinational survey of human creativity from prehistory through the 21st century.

Some of its priceless works are exhibiting in Europe for the first time, leaving the museum to be hosted at Palazzo Ducale in Genoa, the only stop in the old continent, in an exhibition lasting over 200 days, until April 10th 2016.

A path - curated by Salvador Salort-Pons and Stephen Zuffi - describing and retracing the journey from the United States to Europe, winding among 52 masterpieces that belong to 19th and 20th century masters of the greatest artistic movements, from Renoir to Van Gogh, Monet, Matisse, through Cézanne, Kandinsky and Picasso.

Foreseeing long lines at the box office, Palazzo Ducale and Federalberghi/Ascom have launched a special promotion to help tourists. By booking a hotel on the website www.hotelsgenova.it, anyone wishing to come to this exceptional exhibition will receive both a 2 euro card off the ticket and "skip the line", a priority line to enter Palazzo Ducale.
