The Olive Tree Museum, in the city of Imperia, is currently hosting a special exhibition renowned Ligurian painter, production designer, illustrator, film director and animator, a master in every field of arts: Emanuele Luzzati.
The exhibition, "Old trades of Liguria", delights visitors with images of slowly-disappearing ancient crafts, original to the land of Liguria. Housed in the beautiful Art Nouveau building - built during the twenties to house the Headquarters of the Fratelli Carli corporation - the exhibition runs from October 1st to November 30th and includes 15 original drawings by Emanuele Luzzati.
The tables, made in pastel and collage, show uncommon crafts such as the puppeteer, the grinder, the framer, the potter, the chair maker, the spinner, the weaver, the watchmaker, the potter, the stonemason, and the boat builder. The work is part of a research the artist began in 1994 to illustrate the book "The trades carousel", a directory of original crafts unique to this land.
The Olive Tree Museum, located in the Western Ligurian Riviera - one of the most important olive oil cultivating and producing areas in the Mediterranean - offers visitors a path that winds through 18 rooms, illustrating the evolution of the olive tree and of civilization over a period of 6,000 years.
