Riviera Express: five years connecting Nice to Moscow

The renewed railway route which connects the city of Nice to Moscow was inaugurated in 2010.

Being 3,315 km long, it is one of the longest transeuropean train routes, used by around 7,000 passengers every year who travel for 50 hours and stop in 29 cities in Italy, Austria, Czech Republic, Poland and Belarus.

During the journey, passenger can observe through the windows elements as fascinating as the Mediterranean Sea, the Italian vineyards, the Austrian Alps, the architecture of Vienna and roof of Czech houses.

Interestingly, Nice has been twinned with Saint Petersburg since 1997 and over 2,000 Russian are now resident in the French Riviera. Moreover, 300 secondary residences in the area belong to Russian people.

A Russian Film Festival was launched in Nice in 2013.
