The 2nd Edition of Expo Valle Arroscia

The 2nd Edition of Expo Valle Arroscia will take place in Pieve di Teco from the 5th to the 7th of September 2014.

The 2nd Edition of Expo Valle Arroscia

After last year's successful edition which involved hundreds of exhibitors and attracted thousands of visitors, the second edition of Expo Valle Arroscia is taking place from September 5th to September 7th in the picturesque setting of the fifteenth-century arcades of Pieve di Teco, in Imperia's inland. The Expo is devoted to promote the Arroscia valley's wine and food products, its history, culture and environmental resources.

The food products local to the valley are all part of the "Cucina Bianca" - literally white cooking - a typical cooking unique to the mountain areas of the Alps of the Sea. Cucina Bianca developed on top of the Ligurian and Maritime Alps, in Cuneo and the Occitane Valleys where people lived of agricultural and pastoral transhumance; hence, the white color of its dishes is due to the ingredients, mainly starches, dairy products, vegetables like potates, turnips, leeks etc.

The Expo encompasses twelve municipalities: Aquila d'Arroscia, Cesio, Cosio d'Arroscia, Mendatica, Armo, Borghetto d'Arroscia, Montegrosso Pian Latte, Vessalico, Ranzo, Pieve di Teco, Pornassio, Rezzo. In addition to tasting local products, visitors will have the opportunity to visit some wonderful museums in the region: in Cenova (Rezzo) Museum of Lapicidi; in Mendatica, the Museum of Transhumance; in Montegrosso Pian Latte, the Chestnut Museum; in Cosio, the Museum of Herbs; in Pieve di Teco, the Museum of Ubaga Masks.

Expo Arroscia is part of ExpoLiguria, the network of events dedicated to the products and culture of the Liguria region, its environmental resources, art and landscape. ExpoLiguria was founded to promote the excellence of craft and food and wine of the region, which, in most cases, is linked to hundreds of small and medium-sized enterprises, often family-run, that every day live and work with the land, respecting traditions and the environment.
