Sanremo: approved by the Board the redevelopment project of the Portosole area

The City Council has approved the redevelopment project of the port area proposed by Portsole Cnis. With the passage to the Board the practice will then go to the City Council for its final approval. The first step towards the definitive completion of the hotel in Portosole, one of the most anticipated works in the city, since, fifteen years ago, the process for its accomplishment was interrupted.

"A very important passage on a theme to which we have dedicated a great commitment in recent years. Now the practice will pass through the commission and the City Council. I am confident that we can finally give a definitive turn to a reality that has been dragging on for too long ", declared the Mayor of Sanremo, Alberto Biancheri.

The new agreement aims to complete the building with a tourist-hotel destination: a luxury hotel that will provide about 100 rooms. The approved convention provides for a series of important measures to redevelop public spaces and public services. Among these:

- the arrangement of the area adjacent to the Trento Trieste promenade and the beginning of Via del Castillo, with the creation of a roundabout and green arrangement along the access road to the Via del Castillo underpass, in Via Gavagnin and at the entrance of Portosole, which will be set back to allow greater use of the roundabout;

- the construction of a connection with Via Vesco (district of San Martino) and parapet along Via Gavagnin;

- the realization of public parking spaces for public use;

- the construction of a green area for public use at the quay level (an area that can also be used for tourist events organized by the Municipality);

- the roof of the garage at Villa Magnolie: an intervention strongly desired by the municipal administration to solve the long-standing problem of the lack of parking for the Liceo Cassini students;

- the construction of a building for customs and public services;

- the construction of a lighting system, railings and protective gates in Via Gavagnin;

- the realization of a protective barrier of the Rio San Lazzaro to improve the usability of the water space;

- the construction of a plant for the upgrading of water recirculation in the basin in front of Portosole.

The interventions, which the Portosole Cnis company will carry out on public areas and for public services, have a total value of around 4 million euros. To these will be added another 900 thousand euros between charges and urbanization standards.
