The Ligurian Sea confirms to among the best top quality beaches in Europe, not only in terms of nature, but also in terms of the conditions of bathing water and tourism facilities and services.

In 2014 Italian Riviera’s beaches were awarded a record of 20 Blue Flags, a very prestigious certification whose criteria include standards of water quality, safety, environmental information and education, general environmental management and the provision of services.

According to official feedback gathered from tourists over the last few days, the Ligurian Sea is “even more beautiful, clean and crystal clear than a year ago”.

Data released by Italy’s Regional Environmental Protection Agency (ARPAL) supports such feedback, highlighting the excellent status of the Riviera's water.

Data have been collected since April 1, 2015, and refer to samples taken at least at around 30 cm below the water surface close to the coast, and at least 1 meter below the surface in deep water.

The sea around Savona’s maritime area emerges to be the cleanest in the whole Ligurian Riviera.
