#WineTasting: double date with Rossese DOC wine in Arma di Taggia (Imperia)

Two wine-tasting events organised by the Scuola Alberghiera (Hotel-management school) will be held on the promenade of Arma di Taggia (Province of Imperia, Western Liguria).

The first one will take place on the Friday, 6 March and the second on Friday, 13 March, both starting at 8pm. During each of the events events six wines, paired with typical dishes, will be presented.

Hotel-management school Ruffini together with AIS (Italian Sommelier Association) and ONAV (National Organisations of Wine Tasters) have worked together to bring the two events to life.

“The intent is to make the excellent products of our province known to the widest audience possible,” said Guido Calvi, former president of the ONAV.

The wine-tasting sessions will be guided by prestigious sommeliers.

Only 60 places for each of the two events will be available, and it is compulsory to book earlier by calling +39 0184461082 (Cristina).

The Rossese wine is of ancient origins: already in  1425 poet Andrea Bulgaro dedicated a few lines to it, in Ligurian dialect.

Arma di Taggia is the sea resort part of the municipality of Taggia in the province of Imperia, located about 110km southwest of Genova.

Here are some of interesting spots in Taggia:

  • Church of Santa Maria del Canneto (10th or 14th century).
  • Church of San Martino di Tours, housing 15th-century frescoes.
  • Basilica of San Giacomo and San Filippo (1675–1681), built on an 11th-century Romanesque church.
  • Convent of San Domenico (160–1490). It contains some works of painter Ludovico Brea.
  • Palazzo Asdente (1473).
  • Palazzo Curlo (1448).
  • Palazzo Vivaldi (1458).
