The #EuropeanParliament President #MartinSchulz will be an honorary citizen of #Monforte d'Alba

The announcement was made in Monforte, where Schulz, on vacation in these days in the Langhe, was welcomed by MEP Alberto Cirio.

Present at the meeting in the City Hall the mayor, Livio Genesio, with his council and the president of the Truffle Fair, Liliana Allena. For years, the president of the European Parliament goes on holiday to Monforte, which he called one of his favorite places. Last autumn, during the trip of a delegation of mayors from Piedmont in Brussels, to attend a course on European funds organized by Alberto Cirio, the invitation to receive the honorary citizenship of the small town nestled in the hills, had been delivered.

"The invitation will become reality on October 10th, when the 2,084 inhabitants of Monforte will add a citizen more! - Said the Hon. Cirio - We'll draft together the guest list for the ceremony and he has already announced that he wants to invite personally Giorgio Napolitano, to whom he is bound by a personal relationship of esteem and friendship.

The day before, however, Schulz will attend the opening of the Truffle Fair of Alba, to be held from October 10 to November 15, 2015.. Get the President of the EU Parliament in one of the most important events of our territory is for me a source of great pride, I cultivate this desire since I started my experience in Brussels. We had received a message from him already at the last edition of the Fair, but to count this year on his presence, as well as being an element of prestige for us, is also an opportunity to strengthen relations between the European Union and the Piedmont. Moreover in these days, when the new Juncker programming starts and brings to the fore, Italy's waste of the resources that Europe provides for our country. "
