Three Italian films will be competing for the Golden Palm.

Three Italian films have been chosen to be presented at the 2015 edition of the Cannes Film Festival, taking place from the 13th to the 24th of May.

The Italian films competing for the Golden Palms are Nanni Moretti’s “Mia madre”, Matteo Garrone’s “Il racconto dei racconti”, and Paolo Sorrentino’s “Youth – La giovinezza”. 

The three films are already among the favourites in the contest. 

The program of the Festival also presents Roberto Minervini’s “The Other Side” in the Un Certain Regard section. 

This year marks the 68th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, which will be inaugurated with the presentation of “La tête haute”, by Emmanuelle Bercot, with Benoît Magimel and Catherine Deneuve.

Competing for the Golden Palm are also “Carol”, by Todd Haynes, “The Assassin”, by Hou Hsiao-hsien, “Mountains May Depart” by Jia Zhang-ke, “Our Little Sister” by Hirokazu Kore-Eda, “The Lobster” by Yorgos Lanthimos, “The Sea of Trees” by Gus Van Sant, and “Sicario” by Denis Villeneuve. 

Important is also the presence of French films, such as “Dheepan” by Jacques Audiard, “A Simple Man” by Stéphane Brizé, “Marguerite et Julien” by Valérie Donzelli, and “Mon roi” by Maïween. 

The Un Certain Regard section will feature, among others, directors such as Kiyoshi Kurosawa (“Journey to the Shore”) and Corneliu Porumboiu (“The Treasure”). 

Many are the important titles out contest, such as Pixar’s animation film “Inside Out”, “Mad Max: Fury Road” by George Miller, and «Irrational Man» by Woody Allen. 

Worth mentioning is “A Tale of Love and Darkness”, Natalie Portman’s debut as film director.
