Also the Col de Turini in the next Paris - Nice [Video & photo gallery]

The stage race will take place between 10th and 17th March. Two stages focused on Nice and its territory.

The classic stage race is one of the moments "symbol" of the start of the cycling season.

The race will end in Nice with two stages that will have the city and the arrière pays (hinterland) as the seat of the "strains" of the cyclists.

For climbers the highlight will be the penultimate, March 16th, with the arrival on the Col de Turini, after a climb of 14.9 kilometers and an average gradient of 7.3%. This is the 77th edition of the race which includes 8 stages for a total of 1206 kilometers. 23 teams of seven athletes each will battle.

The favorites: the British Simon Yates, the Colombians Nairo Quintana and Miguel Angel Lopez and the French Romain Bardet.

These are the eight stages:

  • 10th March: 1st stage Saint-Germain-en-Laye (Yvelines) - Saint-Germain-en-Laye, 138.5 km;
  • 11th March: 2nd stage Les Bréviaires (Yvelines) - Bellegarde (Loiret), 163.5 km;
  • 12th March: 3rd stage Cepoy (Loiret) - Moulins / Yzeure (Allier), 200 km;
  • 13th March: 4th stage Vichy (Allier) - Pélussin (Loire), 210.5 km;
  • 14th March: 5th stage Barbentane (Bouches-du-Rhône) - Barbentane, 25.5 km (individual time trial);
  • 15th March: 6th stage Peynier (Bouches-du-Rhône) - Brignoles (Var), 176.5 km;
  • 16th March: 7th stage Nice - col de Turini (Alpes-Maritimes), 181.5 km;
  • 17th March: 8th stage Nice - Nice, 110 km.
