Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters is the first European clay tournament of the prestigious ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category.

Organised by the SMETT (Société Monégasque pour l’Exploitation du Tournoi de Tennis), from 14 to 22 April 2018, in the magnificent setting of the Monte-Carlo Country Club, the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters is the first European clay tournament of the prestigious ATP World Tour Masters 1000 category. Along with the Formula 1 Grand Prix and the Monaco Yacht Show, this event is one of the most emblematic events in the Principality, which, for over a century, has marked the beginning of the season on the French Riviera.

After having announced its new name “Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters”, which illustrates the close ties between the tournament and its title sponsor Rolex, Zeljko Franulovic reminded those present that the 2017 edition saw Rafael Nadal dominate on the clay courts, winning his 10th title. The Spaniard who was participating in his 11th final on the Court Rainier III left no chance to Albert Ramos-Vinolas, playing his first final.

“This year, with the presence of 17 out of 20 of the best world players, I would once again like the thank all the players for their loyalty and attachment to our tournament. 
The 2017 edition of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters beat all records. Helped by exceptional weather conditions, the tournament set new audience records with a total number of 135,809 spectators, of which 44,800 were Italians, representing a third of the public.
From Monday to Sunday, for the very first time the five competition courts were sold out!”, stated Zeljko Franulovic.

The Tournament Director also mentioned that the reservation website for the 2018 edition has been open since 2nd October 2017 on the official tournament site: www.rolexmontecarlomasters.mc, with reservations recording an increase of 21% compared with last year.

The 112nd edition, which will start on Friday 13th April with the Main Draw, is already looking just as promising. Numerous events are on the programme, such as the Kids’ Day on 15th April 2018 and the traditional Grande Nuit du Tennis on Friday 20th April.
