Christmas Recipe: Bûche de Noël

A classic Christmas recipe from Cote d'Azur!

Christmas Recipe: Bûche de Noël

Great classic French dessert, Bûche de Noël – a Christmas log -  recalls the big piece of wood that used to burn in the fireplace from Christmas to New Year. This recipe has a little twist with orange and Nutella. Yummy!

Ingredients (4 people):

  • 80 g flour
  • 140 g icing sugar
  • 3 egg whites
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon Baking powder
  • Candied orange peel
  • A little cocoa powder
  • Nutella as needed

Directions:

You can directly buy the biscuit dough or make it. Here the directions to make it:

Mount the egg whites with icing sugar, 2 tablespoons of cold water and vanilla. Then add the flour sifted with baking powder and mix until stiff, stretch the dough into a 34x24 cm baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

Bake at 180 degrees for 15 minutes, turn the dough upside down on a dampened towel.

Lightly heat the Nutella and lay a thin layer on the cake, sprinkle with small cubes of candied orange peel.

Roll the cake, still hot, on itself, using the sheet of parchment paper. Tighten as much as possible so that the cake has a nice rounded shape.

Allow to cool before decorating with cocoa powder and orange peels.

Sweet-tooths can cover the log with more Nutella!
