Discover the Nature Park of the Lakes of Avigliana

The park extends over about 410 hectares and includes important historical and naturalistic possessions

The Nature Park of the Lakes of Avigliana was established on May 16th, 1980 with a regional law and with the aim of protecting an interesting damp area, the most western one close to the Alps in this sector of the region. This protected area is really important not only for the environmental values that it protects, but also for the migratory birds that find here a safe shelter in their annual routes. The aims and the institutional purposes of the park are the promotion of the interventions necessary to the re-establishment of the compromised hydrobiological balances of the lakes, the control and the discipline in the fruition of the territory, the improvement of the enviromental resources and the promotion of the local productive activities respectful of environment.

The park extends over about 410 hectares and includes important historical and naturalistic possessions: the two glacial lakes set in the heart of the protected territory, the marsh area of Mareschi, the archaelogical industrial building complex of the former Dynamite Factory Nobel and the hills where the medieval town of Avigliana rises with the remains of Savoy castle.

The park can be travelled over marked paths where you can also ride a horse or a bike. On the southern banks of Small Lake (area F.I.P.S.) there is also a refreshment bar which is open in spring and in summer and has a wide parking lot and a furnished area.
