2016 Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival: 10 years of freedom loving and diverse jazz

The Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival 2016 will be held from November 24^th through to December 3^rd offering  the biggest jazz stars as well as today’s fresh talents in the Opéra Garnier wonderful setting, a temple of music and art for over one hundred years.

The festival - which since its creation 10 years ago has enjoyed the High Patronage of HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco - reflects jazz music as it is today: open to all musical trends but always giving way to tradition, taking inspiration from all the world’s music, paying particular attention to artistic creation. 

The 2016 programme reflects 10 years of Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival. It shows that jazz is still as freedom loving and diverse, with no limitations, previewing Lambert Wilson, who will pay tribute to Yves Montand in a jazz spirit.

On Sunday November 27^th at 6 pm, Angélique Kidjo, the great voice of today’s Africa, will present her show “Eve”.

From Tuesday November 29^th to Saturday December 3^rd a concert  every evening featuring the biggest jazz players of today including Manu Katché, Richard Bona and Ibrahim Maalouf, paying tribute as well to two jazz legends, Al Jarreau, accompanied by the NDR Bigband, and Wayne Shorter with his quartet.

As always, the Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival is also the way to find out about the jazz of tomorrow, with trumpeter Airelle Besson,Sarah Lancman, the Malia / André Manoukian duo and the Alune Wade and Harold López-Nussa quartet around their “Havana-Paris-Dakar” project. Finally, a special evening dedicated to Robert Charlebois who will be celebrating 50 years of song at the Opéra Garnier Monte-Carlo. Madeleine Peyroux will be presenting her new album “Secular Hymns”.

For this 10^th year, the festival will spread into the Casinos and several establishments of Société des Bains de Mer with the Funk Off fanfare, Mike Sanchez and a lot of other artists to be discovered at the event.
